Explorers Early Learning becomes first to adopt innovative fever screening technology

Explorers Early Learning (EEL) has become the first childcare group in Australia to deploy innovative fever screening technology to prevent the spread of viruses in the classroom. Elenium’s world-leading health screening kiosk, HealthGate, allows staff, visitors and children to be accurately assessed for systems of COVID-19 before entering a childcare facility, and is the only such device in Australia approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Explorers Early Learning (EEL) needed a solution to scan the temperature of all visitors, including children, entering the centres for access to the classrooms to maintain a safe, virus-free environment. Having trialled handheld temperature scanners, it quickly became apparent that EEL required a non-invasive and user-friendly solution for all ages, especially children.

To address the problem, EEL deployed several HealthGate kiosks across five Early Learning centres as well as its Head Office. The device ensures every staff member, visitor and child has been accurately health screened before entering the centre, while making the process faster and more enjoyable due to the touchless element.

Centre Director at EEL’s Armadale facility, Laura Pitt, said: “Our experience using HealthGate has been very positive. It offers a quick, non-invasive process where a child walks onto the step, the device scans the child’s temperature, the child taps the screen to say they are feeling well, and it automatically prints a sticker for the child to wear that day. It has been very helpful for staff not having to do the manual process and families are very happy with the system. Children used to fear having their temperature checked but HealthGate has made this process quick, easy and pleasant for all those involved.”

Elenium’s CEO and Co-founder Aaron Hornlimann said: “Using HealthGate means the staff at EEL can operate as they would have pre-COVID-19 whilst still providing great reassurance to families and staff and adhering to constantly changing government requirements around testing and screening. The touchless digital identification technology we developed can verify a person’s health in seconds, making it easy, quick, accurate and fun for the kids.”

HealthGate is a fully integrated digital identification system that offers everything from health screening to facility access control. The system is used by businesses across Australia to prevent an outbreak, helping businesses stay open.
