Explorers Early Learning

“The HealthGate product has played a key part in reducing the risk of infection with the touchless screen and facial recognition. The additional functionality allows us to ask questions and provide relevant information on screen without the need for ever needing to touch the screen.”

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Explorers Early Learning (EEL), an Early Learning Group company, needed a solution to scan the temperature of all visitors, including children, entering the centres for access to the classrooms.

EEL adopted a manual system where staff used a handheld temperature scanner. The experience of having the device inside or close to the ear was very invasive for the children. It quickly became a daunting experience for children, staff and parents.

EEL needed a solution that was non-invasive and user-friendly for all ages, even children.

To address this problem, EEL deployed several HealthGate kiosks across multiple Early Learning centres to scan the temperature of staff, children, parents, and visitors.

On arrival, a parent, child or visitor faces a HealthGate device and is automatically temperature screened and checked in. HealthGate then prints a sticker to help the team identify if a child has had their temperature checked.

Centre Director at EEL’s Armadale facility, Laura Pitt, said “HealthGate is deployed at both entrances at our Armadale centre. The system is particularly useful in the downstairs entrance where staff have no visibility to check whether or not the child has had their temperature checked. When a child is wearing a sticker, we know they have been screened. This helps us keep the children and families safe.”

“Our experience using HealthGate has been very positive” continued Laura, “It offers a quick, non-invasive process where a child walks onto the step, the device scans the child’s temperature, the child taps the screen to say they are feeling well, and it automatically prints a sticker for the child to wear that day. It has been very helpful for staff not having to do the manual process and families are very happy with the system. Children used to fear having their temperature checked but HealthGate has made this process quick, easy and pleasant for all those involved.”

Families have been very impressed with Explorer’s willingness to go the extra mile to protect children and families from illnesses.

“Parents have loved this process. Every parent wants their child to be excited for their day at school, and manual temperature screening was creating implications where children were scared to go through the health screening process. Now with HealthGate, children look forward to the process and wearing their sticker. Parents have been extremely supportive of EEL’s willingness to go the extra mile for children and families” said Laura.
